Riverside County, Ca Recorder's Office Memo May 2012- Updates

There was some interesting information discussed yesterday at a meeting I attended with the Riverside County Recorder..

1. SB 1342-Has not passed but probably will. This bill will allow the county recorder to collect an additional 10.00 for each document submitted for recording that is set out on the attached list. This is not an official list and may be amended to delete or add documents. I am sure this will pass with flying colors because the county needs the funds.
2. AB 2299-Has not passed and we hope it doesn’t but there has been very little opposition. This is a great example of why we need to support or professional association. I understand that CAR is opposing this as well as the title and escrow associations. If this bill passes, it will require the county to redact the names of any public safety official from the record. Just think what this would do to the “Public Record”. It makes a “Private Record” and just think about how hard it would be for all of us to get this information for farming, marketing and searching. We need this bill to fail or, at the very least, be amended to just delete the address info and not the names.
3. The last attachment is a copy of the PCOR. The county is requiring the Mobile home info on the PCOR.
4. The Riverside County Board of Supervisors is currently considering a change with Prop 90 which will allow the tax base, from a different county, to be transferred to Riverside. The current proposition only allows an inter-county transfer. The industry needs to support this change, contact Supervisors Benoits’ Office to express support. This change may help those retirement communities, such as the low desert, by allowing those looking to retire and move form OC, LA or SD into Riverside County.
5. The Riverside County Recorder will be open half day on December 24, 2012, closed December 25, 2012, half day on December 31, 2012 and closed January 1, 2013.
