Home staging in a good market is a waste of money right?

In a buyers market where there’s plenty of homes to choose from…Staging helps a house stand out from the competition so that it sells faster, 78% faster according to RESA Staging statistics.  So what if the market is doing well and homes are selling?  Most people will assume that Staging isn't necessary, but the truth is if you want top dollar for your property, it's just as important! 

                 

Let's say for example you have to sell your car that's less than 5 years old, it's still in good shape but has some minor expected wear and tear.  You could wash the car, clean it out and vacuum the inside, then stick a "for sale" sign on the back window and hope to hear from someone.  You MAY be able to sell it for what it's worth OR may end up settling for a lower offer just to get it sold after it's been sitting for awhile.  

What if you had invested in little time and money in detailing your car,  then posted the pictures of the freshly waxed, buffed, shiny "newer looking" car in a local ad...  Will you get more calls?  Probably.  Will you sell it sooner?  Most likely.  You might even get multiple offers!!  Yes, it does happen, aggressive marketing gets results...I should know, I majored in Marketing :-)  The same is true for homes, if you want to get attention and you want the best offer out there...you have to invest in "detailing" your home so that buyers say "wow, I want that "instead of "oh that's nice...I wonder what else is out there."

yes yes yes.. you only have one time to make that first impression last, and there have been some super before and after home staging photos that caught my attn immediately!

Rebecca ~ your comparison to selling and detailing a car is an effective one ... when people sell their home, why not do all you can to make sure it looks its very best?  With such a large asset, it's certainly worth a home staging consultation with a professional home stager!
