Soon after moving into the T&P Lofts on the South end of downtown Fort Worth I began to explore. Now everyone knows that Fort Worth's downtown has changed dramatically over the years, duh. But in so many ways I discover every day that even as a 43 year resident of Cowtown I have been in the dark about so much. Sure, we all go down to Sundance Square for a movie or dinner, or a concert at the Bass. Lucky us whenever someone treats us to Del Frisco's or Daddy Jack's... I had heard of- but only recently actually experienced Scat's, a very chill Jazz club that's tucked in an alley that looks exactly like the place where Batman's parents were killed... but worth going to anyway, because we all at least know that Bass Enterprises will keep us safe even if we know nothing else about Sundance Square.
Today I made an astounding discovery. The Water Gardens, an urban park that opened in the 70's is more than what I remember. We all rushed down there in 1975 when the park was new because they were filming the final scenes of the movie Logan's Run at the main pool. We were told we miight get $50 and get chosen to be extras in the scene where the people escape from the movie's futuristic world. The image of that main pool is what is tucked away in my brain under the tag: "FORT WORTH WATER GARDENS"
Before I started to write this blog I Googled the Fort Worth Water Gardens and that's just about the only picture I could find, even on Wikipedia. You've seen it. It looks like this:
But check this one out that I just took today with my iPhone:
AND THIS ONE.....
I had no idea!!!
Anyway, I wanted to share this with you because it's just another great facet of living in Fort Worth that is easily overlooked because we have so many awesome things here to see and do.
As a Fort Worth Real Estate Agent I would easily rattle off "Fort Worth Water Gardens" to someone new to the area as something to see while they're here, but I thought I was sending them to see what I remembered as the Water Gardens, like the first picture above. Now that I'm better informed I'll do a better job of talking about Fort Worth.
