A Rose Is A Rose...Except in Santa Fe

Emily Medvec Harvey Cornell Rose Park Santa Fe NM

For most people, a rose is a rose is a rose, except in Santa Fe. Here we have a park of roses officially named the Cornell Rose Garden but called “Rose” park by the locals. It is an extraordinary peaceful place to be to not only smell the roses but to soak up the beauty of nature. It truly is worth getting of your car to wander amongst the flowers and sit down and listen to the birds. This is what I did this morning on my way to walk in a different neighborhood.

You might be wondering about the rest of the story. This is a City of Santa Fe park. It was dedicated to Harvey Hiram Cornell, a landscape architect who lived between 1893 and 1962.
Today, it is both an inspiration and relaxing venue to sit and enjoy being surrounded by a garden of roses. The Park is public and open 24/7 with parking on the street. It is located at 1315 Galisteo Parkway which is unlike a “parkway” like street in this South Capitol neighborhood. If you want more information about homes for sale in this area, simply contact Emily Medvec at 505-660-4541 and mention “Rose” Park area homes for sale. Stay tuned for the rest of the story as I am still researching more about Harvey Hiram Cornell and how this park came to be a reality.

Beautiful.  I try to grow lovely roses in Bellevue (near Seattle) but we have wonderful "black spot" that graces most of the leaves.  Thank you for the lovely picture.  and today's sunshine.  Raining here.  But everything is very green.  Ruth

Emily we at McCue Mortgage have adopted the Walnut Park Rose Garden in New Britain.  We help to maintain it, and twice a year most of our employees show up to open the Garden in the Spring, and then prepare it for Winter in late Fall.

Debbie, thank you! The park is one of our best kept secrets since it is off the beaten tourist path.

Ginny, I like your line... everything is coming up roses here lately in our real estate market.

George, is the Walnut Park Rose Garden near Walnut Hill near the hospital? If so, when did it begin?

Great post Emily.

I am hard headed and have taken on a more difficult and much more ephemeral flower.  Once they bloom, they last no more than three days.  They start out like a large tulip...

and then they open up
