St. James the Just Catholic Church hosted their parish picnic at Ogden's George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Dinosaur Park has a great family environment which features eight acres of life-size dinosaurs, a museum and paleontology lab, dinosaur skeletons, fossils, picnic and playground areas, life-like robotic dinosaurs.
Of course, just the sight of the huge creatures made my grandkids ecstatic! I took . It looks almost like a T-rex to me. But there is a noticeable difference between the two dinosaurs that an astute 5-year-old like Gavin could discern. Gavin lectured me that T-rex's has two fingers and giganotosaurus have four fingers, all I see is a dinosaur, their giant teeth and their rawr-rawrs! Funny, I hope my grandkids do not see me as another “dinosaur”, since youngsters usually pertain to their granddads as such.
The park also have a cafe' and an adventure shop. The adventure shop has some fabulous deals; there's a beautiful crystal/red/pink agate-type geode that is only $19.95. It's about the size of my hand. Thank goodness I left my wallet in the car, or that would be sitting on my bookcase right now.
The park is open year round and is located at 1544 Park Blvd, Ogden, Utah 84401.
I can never thank you enough St. James for enlisting the Eccles Dinosaur Park in providing a luscious backdrop for a friendly church gathering. There was great food and beverage, beautiful landscaping, interesting activities for the children, and great fellowshipping.
Indeed it was another great family gathering! I can’t still take my mind off that good looking geode though.
