Business Intranet Alternative: Use a Blog!

By
Real Estate Agent with Copeland Group Realty

BookI just signed up today for a free business blog through RealtyBlogging.com. I bought their book on Amazon last week and like the advice. They talked about creating a company blog with RSS feeds for quickly disseminating information to teams. I used to have a Webex Office intranet when it used to be Intranets.com. I liked the idea of having an intranet because they a platform for sharing documents, news, calendars, and udpates. The Webexone (Intranets.com) account was was about $60 per month if I remember correctly.

I'm excited about the team blog because:

1) It's FREE

2) it allows for automated communication with my team via the RSS feed. I have all of the same information I wanted to send out and you can attach files to your blogs. You can even podcast. If you start having a large enough team or just like to podcasts, it would not be extra to podcast team meetings, awards, or announcements, for example.

3) It's password protected, of course!

Here are some samples of blog categories for the team that I created. Each one can be it's own RSS feed:

  1. Orientation
  2. Tech Tools
  3. Meeting Notes & News
  4. Meeting Agendas
  5. Scripts & Tips
  6. Classes & Events
  7. Commercial Real Estate
  8. Resources and Websites
  9. Processes and Procedures
  10. Lead Generation Ideas
  11. Admin Requests
I'll keep everyone updated on how it works. Since I have a new team, I hired people who were very used to technology and embraces it.

Dee, that's great information.  I was just wondering last night if I could get my office to do something similar here.

So far, my agents love it and it's working very well. We're meeting tomorrow to see if we should make changes to the process.

Dee, this is great information, I'll forward it on to my team leader to see if he's interested.  Thanks for sharing this useful information with us.  You are correct, in this day and age, we need to keep up with technology.

i can create a password if you like so you can see how I use it. It's not as pretty of a site as I'd like, but free is great and it's been a huge help. Let me know if you'd like to log on.
