Here is a brief overview of the home buying process.
Find a Real Estate professional you can trust. Once you have found your agent it is important that you analyze your needs, this is usually done with a buyer consultation. Now that you and your agent fully understand your needs its time to get pre approved for a mortgage. If you have a lender you want to use that's great if not ask your agent for some recommendations.
You have your agent, you analyzed your needs, and talked with your lender, now you will need to select properties that you want to view. Your agent should have already printed out some MLS Listings that match your search criteria. You should look at each listing and determine the ones you are most interested in looking at. Call your agent to arrange a time to start looking at homes in person.
Now that you have narrowed down your choices to the one house you love, its time to write an offer to purchase. Here your agent will help you with the initial price of your offer and will prepare all the paperwork needed. Your agent will present your offer to the seller's agent and the negotiations will start. Once you and the seller have agreed on the sales price and terms you now have a legal contract to purchase the property.
Now, your agent will schedule all home inspections, will contact the title company to get the title insurance ordered, and will contact your lender to get a copy of the sales contract sent to them. You will need to contact your insurance company to get the home insured. Once everything is completed now its time for you to pack and wait for the closing date.
