I have had rentals and rented homes for clients for many years. Over the years, the one lesson I have learned better than the others is that people must pay their rent or move.

The first time tenants are late with their rent I call them and tell them if they do not pay within 3 days the eviction process will start immediately. I do not care if they had car repairs or sick children or loss of employment or whatever else. These are hardships, but they need to pay the rent above everything else or move.

I am not their charity to let them live for free. I wish everyone would be like this and make people pay or move and maybe we can get everyone to understand that they pay their rent or move.

Thanks for posting this very to the point reminder that rent is like the mail nothing should stand in the way of delivery and payment.

I couldn't agree more. Rent is paying for the roof over your head. This must be a priority and budgeted accordingly.
