Have you ever noticed this?

Have you ever noticed this little notch on the ends of your wrap boxes?  Did you know what it was for?

Wraps have a handy notch - did you know?

One of my pet peeves years ago was trying to pull some wrap out of the box and having the whole roll come out, so it was useless to try to pull the right length and then use the cutter.

If you have experienced this and you haven't paid any attention to the box end, take another look.  The purpose of that notch, which must be punched out, is to keep the roll from coming out when you pull on the wrap, and to steady the roll when you want to use the cutter so you can get a nice clean cut.

Wraps have a handy notch - did you know?I've known about this for a long time, but I was helping a friend wrap some leftovers and she asked, "How do you do that so easily?  I can never make it work right."  I showed her the notch, and she was flabbergasted.  "You mean that has always been there and I never noticed it?"

Yep!

I figured some other people might have missed it too.  Although I found it several years ago, I have no idea how long it was there before I discovered it.

How about you?

Deborah - It's easy to think that because we know something, everyone else must know it too.  That isn't always true.  And it's just as true in real estate as it is in aluminum wrap!  lol

Isn't it amazing that they give us this great handy trick and then they don't bother to tell us about it?

Hi Susan, Great observation . I recall not to many years ago there as plastic disk for the roll to keep it in the box. I buy the super size rolls from Costco because they have the plastic glides to keep the roll turning smoothly in place. Besides that it is extra heavy and wide.

Well, I'm glad I posted this.  It seems that a lot of folks never noticed the notch.  It just goes to show you: don't assume others know something just because you know it and take it for granted.  A good tip for all of us in the real estate profession.
