FAQ:  Can't you just give me the combo and i'll take a look on my own?

Many buyers ask me this question, especially if they want to see a house right away.

The answer to this question is easy.  NO!

Part of my responsibility is to not give property access information to non-licensed members of the public.  Though this may feel inconvenient to the buyer who wants to see the home - it is really a good rule designed to protect the public.

Sellers would be much less comfortable having a lockbox on the home if they could have people coming through the home unaccompanied.

I list a lot of bank owned property. I get calls from people all the time asking if I could show this or that house. Most of the people want to see the house right away because they are already walking around the property and looking in the windows. That just kills me. Have a little respect. It's not quite the same as your situation, but people just never cease to amaze me. I'm also seeing where people think a house is bank owned just because it's vacant and they do the same thing...walk around and look in the windows. I had a short sale seller that had to put up no trespassing signs, because people thought they could just walk around the house. She was still in the house.

Debbie - I think buyers have gotten so used to homes being vacant that they have forgotten that many times people sitll live in the houses they are selling.
