Grant Programs & Credit Optimizing Workshops for Realtors & Home Buyers

By
Mortgage and Lending with Carrollton Bank

I am going to be doing a workshop on grant/loan programs for first time buyers, as well as optimizing your credit score throughout 2008.   The first workshop will be Saturday, February 2nd, 2008 at 11am, and should last about an hour and a half.

These workshops are geared for both home buyers and Realtors that want to get more information about federal, state, and local down payment assistance, closing cost grant and loan programs that are available in Maryland.  You can find out about the different types of programs, what you need to do to qualify, and I will also have a special section on optimizing your credit score that is useful if you have a 700 credit score or no credit at all.

The workshops will be the first Saturday of every month at 11am at Granite Title in Greenspring Valley.
Granite Title's address is: Foxleigh Building Granite Title Associates, Inc. • 2330 W. Joppa Road Suite 107 • Maryland 21093

Good Idea, Patti.  How are you marketing this to get folk to show up?

Wouldn't you like to know!
Actually, there's not much magic to it, just leg work.  here are the main sources:

  1. Visitors to my blog, I get a lot of response from my "regular" blog www.thoughtsaboutrealestate.com
  2. Inviting past leads as a way of follow up, very often when people first call me they may be a year or more out, and having events to invite them to is a great way to keep in touch
  3. This event is for both realtors and home buyers, which is something different from past seminars I've done, I whole-heartedly encourage Realtors to come on their own to learn about these down payment programs, as well as bring clients who might be interested in taking advantage of them
  4. Flyers in public places like grocery stores, libraries, etc.
  5. A general email to past clients inviting them to forward to people, once you've had people use these programs, they love telling their friends about it

And that's what I do!  I am trying to see if having a set date, ie the first Saturday of every month, will help overall turnout.  I've done a bunch of "first time home buyer seminars" in the past, and it seems like there are a lot more around these days, so I'm also focusing the subject matter.
