A Houzz is a Home
I was instantly enamored by Houzz.com. It’s a feast for the eyes to anyone who loves photos of beautiful and interesting homes. I dove deep into the site over the past few days obsessing over luscious photos of living spaces with interesting treatments of wood, glass, tile, concrete, and steel.
Houzz.com features homes of every style including traditional, modern, and eclectic. There’s just under half a million photos by over 60,000 design professionals who share their work and decorating ideas in portfolios. You can search the site for homes by style, by space (living room, office, kitchen, even backyard sheds etc.) and by metro area.
Members have created over a million idea books to look through for remodeling ideas and you can interact with them to share tips and ask questions. Add photos from the site to your own idea book and/or upload your own pictures.
I've never seen such a wonderful collection of interesting living spaces online in one place. Some are similar to those I dream about, yet others I’ve never conjured up, even in an extreme creative moment.
I see Houzz.com as a great tool for buyers. They could create and share an idea book with their real estate broker. A picture’s worth a lot of words and a collection of photos that portray living spaces that resonate with them would be very helpful not only to their agent, but a great process to hone in on the type of home they would truly love to own and live in.
Houzz.com has amazing visual appeal. Though it showcases very upper end homes not all are at the very top segment of the market. In fact one of my favorites is a converted warehouse space in Seattle. It’s a place to get ideas and to see how different treatments would work and fit together. Even if a buyer is looking for a home that needs a lot of TLC but has good potential with some patient sweat equity, this would be a place to imagine it.
