As a boob tube addict, I try my very best to watch TV shows that would bring variety to my viewing habit. I have my favorite reality TV shows, animated series, news, series, etcetera etcetera ad infinitum. The TV show Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations is just one of the shows that is worthy of a reserved slot in my list of well-liked shows.
One of the primary reasons why I love his show was the handful of information that I get to acquire with every episode. Aside from being familiarized with the local cuisines of a particular place, Bourdain also introduces viewers to the wonderful culture of the featured place. Thus, the format of the show which fuses travel with culture and food is very suited to the stable of programs being aired on the Travel Channel. It is very refreshing to see features about places that I’ve never been into yet.
The outgoing personality of the host – master chef Anthony Bourdain, adds to the lively atmosphere of the show. Yet, at times you must stay on guard and be ready with your explanations to your kids in case he talks of subjects that contain theme and scenes that are not suitable for very young audiences.
Since it premiered on Travel Channel in 2005, the show has been running on its 8th season. Viewers like me are anticipating for more unfamiliar places and dishes to be featured on the show. In 1ts 132nd episode, Bourdain visits Penang, Malaysia to experience its local seafood menus. This particular episode is just a proof that the show is committed in showing Americans that there’s more than just the habitual foods and dishes that are served on our tables daily.
The show has this perfect mixture of entertaining chef and cook wannabes as well as travel enthusiasts. Viewers like me are like traveling into a certain place and entertained by its great culture and served with delectable local dishes that are nowhere in the world to be found but only in that place alone.
Thumbs up to Anthony Bourdain for being such a great chef cum host - for bringing international dishes on my table as if they are really there. Watch the show and you’ll see for yourself what you’ll love with it!
