The Watercooler of Tarrytown is one year young – and celebrated with a speakeasy party…

Last night I went to a speakeasy.  I had never really been to one before.   Jenifer Ross threw a real rag-time flapper party in celebration of the first anniversary of the Watercooler.  The Watercooler is a chic, hip office space for those who work independently but want an office to go to.   Its been quite a success and has caused quite a  stir in the river town area.

The speakeasy was terrific.  Many came in costume and from the Mary Pickford punch (spiked with rum) to the piano music, the Marx Brothers movies and the poker game that went on throughout the night, it had all the feel of what I suppose a flapper era  speakeasy was like during the  prohibition era.  There were feather boas for the ladies and fedoras for the men.   No detail was overlooked and a great time was had by all.   Here are a couple of pictures from the party…and many thanks to Jenifer for making it a wonderful evening…..

Ruthmarie - excellent and fun pictures. You captured the soul of the party perfectly. Interesting concept. I followed the link, really well thought off idea. Unfortunatley, these ideas only can thrive on personalities, and it is a match in heaven when it happens

Hi Jon,

It is a great idea.  These shared workspaces are popping up in a lot of locations.  The question is which ones will "stick". This particular space has a great vibe to it and the personality behind it (Jenifer Ross) is very dynamic.   That's why I think this will do very well. She started the 3rd Friday event in Tarrytown where all the merchants got together and have street fairs.  Its great for business and has really created a bigger sense of community.  So based on that, she should do very well.

Those men at the poker table NEVER STOPPED all night.  They were like them men on the Titanic.  Playing cards until the ship sank...
