The number of homes sold in the Sumter South Carolina in the month of May increased from 52 in April to 71 in May.  The numbers of homes sold in Sumter County showed an increase in May that brought the number in line with prior years.  After having the April units closed fall short of prior years and not a big increase in the number of pending units, I did have some concern about what was happening in the 2012 sales year.  The pendings at the end of May have increased so I am expecting the June numbers to fall in line with prior years.      

 

Second the Median and Average home price in Sumter was up over the April and even with weak sales in April these numbers were strong.  Sumter saw the Average $ per Square Foot remain almost level from May to April.  

 

The charts for May are below and seeing the May numbers fall closer in line with 2010 and 2011 numbers is a positive note after the lower numbers in April.  The year to date sales will need to see an increase to obtain the 2010 and 2011 sales levels.  If you are going to be selling a home in 2012, now is the time to contact a Realtor to do a walk through and discuss pricing and any repairs or improvements that can be complete to sell your property.  For more information or a free walk thru, please call me at 803-840-7519.

@James Browning, every market is so different and it is critical a real estate professional know their market.  That is my opinion anyway.  I enjoy sharing the information and hope it helps as many seller and buyers as possible and other real estate professionals.
