Chez Daniel is a hidden Minneapolis jewel that is not to be missed! Tucked away inside the Embassy Suites Hotel at 2800 American Boulevard West in Bloomington, Chez Daniel is an explosion of French flavor that was a wonderful surprise!
My mother and I arrived at Chez Daniel about 20 minutes before the restaurant opened, so, they wonderful staff and Chez Daniel accommodated us with a nice bottle of wine that we enjoyed by the water fountain in the hotel lobby until Chez Daniel opened. The manager on duty Kadija (that spelling is probably off) was from Morocco and she expertly guided us through fabulous choices on the menu. Our waiter Christian was spectacular and the food...oh my, the food!
Both my mother and I had the rack of lamb which was pan seared in provencal herbs to perfection, and was accompanied by a delicious demi-glace sauce that I could have eaten with a spoon! We also had a side of brussel sprouts baked with seared lardons which added a wonderful flavor! Then there was a lovely roasted pear salad that came on a bed of belgian endive and was topped with a delicate roquefort cheese and dressed with a mustard vinaigrette and a red wine reduction. This was all topped off with candied peacans.
For dessert we had a wonderful creme brulee (one of my favorites). Our second selection was a smaller serving of creme brulee served along side a spectacular chocolate mousse that was served in an edible chocolate cup. I would love to know how Chef Pierre Jean did that, it was fabulous!

Lunch 11:30am to 2:30pm
Dinner 5:00pm to 10:00pm
My mother says that the Sunday Brunch at Chez Daniel is fabulous. This is served from 10:30am - 2:00pm with Sunday dinner served from 5:00pm to 9:00pm.
