Success is found in DESIRE

Title Insurance with First American Title

At the age of 19 my dad had me read a book by Napoleon Hill, "Think and GROW RICH".  It was first published in 1937, the first of its kind.  A self-help book for those seeking success in whatever the endeavor may be.  The book was revolutionary and to this day remains one of my top 5 business books of all time.  It taught me DESIRE and provided me the inspiration and confidence I needed.  It helped me realize that I can accomplish anything in life that I DESIRE.  It first sold for $2.50 a copy.  Today you can get it for an amazing $1 on the iBooks store.  Best investment you may ever make.

My oldest son Kellen who is now 16 is a wonderful boy.  He is active in church, Boy Scouts, high school football, and is morally clean.  Academically however he's sluggish.  He passes his courses but with little margin for error.  Frankly it's enough to drive a father like me crazy.

About a month ago I asked him to read the book "Think and GROW RICH" with me.  I hoped a study like this over the summer would be good for the both of us.  He's a reader and so getting him to agree was easy.  Helping him understand its contents however could be a whole other issue.

The results have been astonishing and have far exceeded my expectations.  Last night on his own he started charting out his future on a white board.  His future based on his DESIRES, not mine.  Before heading off to sleep he came in my room last night and said, "Mom, Dad, I'm sorry I've been so lazy about school.  I didn't really care about it because I wasn't sure about what I wanted to do after high school and college.  I don't know exactly what I want to do yet but I do know that I can get whatever I most DESIRE and right now I want to be successful, I want to be married some day, have kids, a big house, money to vacation with, a boat", and the list went on.

The best part is knowing that if his statement truly represents his DESIRES then I know he'll accomplish them.  To say I slept pretty good last night is an understatement.

If you find yourself waining in confidence then pick up a good motivational book such as the one I've prescribed.  It can do wonders for your confidence.  Never forget who our true father is.  As his children we are blessed with the capacity to accomplish great things in this life.
