Today, June 14th is Flag Day! As you drive through your neighborhood please take time to notice all of the flags that are out and by doing so you will also be honoring the many service men and women that have served our country.
It is believed that June 14, 1777 is the official date the nation adopted the flag. A beloved and world-renowned symbol with nicknames that includes “Stars & Stripes,” “Old Glory,” and “The Star Spangled Banner.”
Credited with sewing the nations’ first flag, Betsy Ross was an apprentice for an upholsterer.
The US Flag has been modified 26 times since its adoption in 1777. Today’s 50 star flag was created in 1960 and has been in use the longest.
This morning as I drove through my community of Post Falls, Idaho, I was pleased to see a lot of flags.
