A Mid Year Social Media Check Up!

It’s hard to believe we’re nearly half way through 2012 as we approach the official start of summer.  Now is a great time to do a bit of reflection on how business is going and to get a boost of energy to finish out the rest of the year on track!

Remember those New Years’ resolutions and business goals you made at the beginning of the year?  How are they going?  Do you find you bit off more than you can chew or have you been focused on keeping a steady pace with your goals?

For those of you who wanted to hone in on your social media this year, I thought a few quick check up points could be just the thing needed to keep you on track!  Take a look!

1. Plans and Goals- Do you know where you’re going and where you want to end up with social media?  Having a set plan of any promotions, news and overall guidelines for your Facebook and Twitter will keep you focused on reaching your goals.

2. Beware of Me, Myself and I- Of course a lot of what you may want to post will be about your business, but be sure to balance that with ways to interact with your clients and things going on in your community.  Your clients and potential clients will still need to feel like they’re your first priority.

3. Keep it Attractive, Updated and Friendly- You want your social media sites to be appealing.  If people don’t find your Facebook or Twitter visually appealing, they most likely won’t want to spend time there.  Make sure all of your information is up to date, and be sure to refresh pictures and content on a regular basis so it feels “new” when people visit. 4. These are all great suggestions.  I like the idea of a checkup.  Social media is one more thing you need to monitor on your marketing dashboard.

Hi Fred!

The tune-up definitely follows the check up! Once you figure out what areas of your social media presence needs improvement, THEN you can go in and make the necessary tweaks. We always recommend having a plan of action in place before implementing anything! That way, you'll see the maximum number of results and your profiles will always be up-to-date and effective. It's hard to find the time, but once you do it, you'll be thrilled.

Hi Paul, funny you should ask! We think that Pinterest is a great way to connect, but there's one thing that you have to keep in mind: you have to keep it fun. Posting photos of your listings only isn't going to get you too much interaction. Posting items like open house tips, Dream Houses, great rooms, quotes and more will get you repins and keep people visiting your profile. It's the latest craze and so many people use it on a regular basis. We highly recommend hopping on there!
