Flag Day to Me

Flag Day to Me. Today was Flag Day. I don’t know how many Americans know this, since it is not a national holiday, but it is definitely an important day for me. Ever since returning from my military service, I have more respect for the American Flag than I had ever before. I don’t know if civilians, or people who have not been personally affected by these wars will ever understand.

I do know that every time I see “Old Glory”, or hear the National Anthem- I am taken back to my Army days. I remember those who I knew that paid the ultimate sacrifice. I know that family members of those who lost a loved one at war receive a flag from the President of the United States. I know that the American Flag is worn on service members uniforms. I know that while at war, we all fight to come home. We fight to come home to this beautiful country of ours. Even though at times, it may seem like chaos here, there is no other place I would rather be.

Flag Day to Me is simple. This is what I remember, everytime I see the ‘ol red white & blue! So with that, just remember that there have always been, and will always be, soldiers who will protect this country of ours. This is Flag Day to Me.
