The Word on Waterfront Dining at SML

In summer, one of the most common activities at Smith Mountain Lake is waterfront dining. In fact the subject of where to dine on the water is one of the most popular topics talked about among community members and area visitors. Last year, we featured a run-down of waterfront restaurants in the 2011 Laker Magazine, a highly useful resource for SML locals and newcomers. Once again, publisher Laker Media has released its most current overview of the waterfront dining scene at SML. From the quick made-to-order menu at a nearby marina to finer fare complete with live music, choosing the right waterside eatery is a cinch. 

What stands out about the 2012 waterfront dining scene is several exciting additions. Los Machados Mexican Cantina & Grill filled a vacancy at Indian Pointe Marina last spring. Waller’s Restaurant and Jake’s Place at Halesford Harbour enhance the listing of casual, yet comprehensive boat-to-dock locations. Mitchell’s Restaurant at Mitchell’s Point Marina gives boaters at the southern end of the lake an American grill destination. 

Along with the newest restaurants, Smith Mountain Lake’s more established on-the-water dining facilities round out a thorough mix of excellent selections all around the lake. We hope you will enjoy several of these fantastic stops while you make the most of summer at SML.
