Blogging on the Run! Post When and Where You Can with What Is Handy

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Properties

Blogging on the run! Blog when and where you can! Use whatever tools you have in hand!  I was in a situation recently where I had to wait. Waiting is not my biggest talent but I have learned over the years I can wait patiently IF I have something productive to do while waiting.

One day recently I ended up with nothing but my trusty iPhone. I wrote a couple of posts on my iPhone and emailed them to myself. Time passed quickly and I had two posts ready to go when I got back to my office.

Back at the office I added a quick picture and a couple of links and sent them off.  I did not change the fonts so what you see here are the iPhone special fonts.  Not my favorite fonts, but they were handy and got the job done!

I realize there are many super techs in ActiveRain but emailing my iPhone post was the quickest way I knew to get it live.  I emailed post to me, then back at the office copy and paste to draft, add a photo and links and a post was born.  Nothing great about it except I wanted to get one out and I had zero time to spend writing posts. I did use a stylus in order to type faster and without making errors.  My iPad was missing in action that day.

Some times keeping it simple works for me and taking my mind off the waiting was my big benefit, plus I felt like I had marked off one more thing on my to do list.

This is actually the second iPhone post I have done.  Click on the link to see my first iPhone post, Calling ALL Negative Nellies & Neds.  I admit that neither that first post or this one is a superior creation and certainly not the way I would want all my posts, but, hey, it got me two posts, keep me patient while waiting.  Actually the first one received over 60 comments and no one knew it had been done in the palm of my hand just waiting and trying to be patient.

I have also been able to take iPhone pictures when I would not have been able to take one with my "real" camera.  Anything that saves me time during this busy season is a blessing.

Has anyone else used their trusty iPhone to write your blog posts?  This is not what I would want to do all the time, but using what is handy works for me and what is more handier than our trusty iPhones, pun intended!

Definitely love the idea. People say Blogging is difficult. I beg to differ. Surely you can spend 15 minutes a day writing a few posts that would be beneficial to your clients. Blog about your frequently asked questions and you are driving traffic to your site like crazy.

Gabrille - I agree, but it does take me a little longer than 15 minutes a day to do the whole AR thing, but time well spent for sure.

Barbara, great use of time and resources, sometimes when I started on a project on my phone I hate to put it down before I it's finished. LOL.

Hi Barbara...I haven't tried it on my Droid yet and would prefer not to have to but I'm sure it is possible and I applaud you for doing it.  Not only did you do it but you wrote a fairly lengthy one also.

We're so lucky to have all of these tools readily at hand to enable us to keep working on the go.

Barbara, do you have the capability to do voice to text? I write emails to myself, and others, by talking into my iPhone!

Barbara, what a great idea, but my phone screen just isn't large enough to make it comfortable. But storing the idea or sending it to myself is a good option.

Barbara, the search engines don't know what the format looks like, but they do appreciate the content and that's what gets you on page 1 of a search

Thanks for reminding me that I need a stylus.  I can write on my iPhone, but I have trouble hitting the correct keys.  The stylus would make my job so much easier.

Excellent, Barbara.  I'm still getting accustomed to my Iphone, but one day I may be a mobile blogger too.  Thanks for the reminder.

Barbara, I think it's brilliant! I rarely use my SLR camera anymore because the iPhone is just so handy and easy to use.

Barbara, using your iPhone to e-mail yourself a draft blog post on the run is a wonderful idea! I haven't blogged from my Droid yet, but I frequently jot down blog post ideas in my Evernote app. :)

Barbara, I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago while waiting to get new tires put on my car.  It was taking longer than expected, so, I thought I'd get productive.  It certainly does take the sting out of the wait.  In the old days, one would have to just sit, and sit  and fume.

Great post Barbara! Thanks!

I have an Android smart phone and I just bought an IPad. Love both tools. I can pull in anywhere with Wi-Fi, take a clients call and use the IPad to book the inspection on our online software so I never miss a beat!

Hi Barbara, nice post. I, too, find it unbearable towait unless I have something to keep me busy. I usually read, but working on future posts is a good idea!

Adrian - time is money!  All about spending our time wisely.

Kate - iPad is certainly better but it was cool to use the iPhone which is all I had at the moment.

Eric - I do have the voice option and use this at times when texting.  It does not work that good for me if emailing a long email.

Debbie - I agree the screen is small but it works in a pinch!  I do have my fonts slightly enlarge and that helps.

Ed - True!!!  Page 1 on Google is our goal!

Evelyn - I have not used for comments but will certainly try this.  This would certainly help in getting in comments when there is not much time.

Mike - It is all about learning to use the many tools we have to the max.  Finding solutions and options is the key to making all the tools in our toolbox work.  Thanks.

Cheryl - I enjoy my iPad too and it is certainly easier to use but the phone comes in handy too. Thanks for adding the comment about emailing photos to Flicker!  :-)

Sharon - I love the iPhone camera more each day!

Christine - thanks for adding the comment regarding doing comments.  I am going to make use of this!

Leilani - Thanks for adding the comment about Evernote app.  I love how everyone adds something to the mix providing us so many options.

Gary - I hear you loud and clear!  Being able to be productive while waiting does take the sting out of waiting!

David - with all the tools we have there is no reason to have to waste time.

Sandy - it is tempting to read those old magazines in an office while waiting, but it feels so much better to do something productive!  :-)

Margaret - it is certainly easier on my iPad but there are times I do not have it with me and the iPhone is a close second choice.
