NJ's tourism industry is alive and well, thank you. There's something for everyone in the Garden State. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

 

  1. Search for the Jersey Devil at the Pinelands National Reserve.
  2. Hike Wharton State Forest.or the Brendan T. Byrne State Forest.
  3. Take the ferry out to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
  4. Pitch a tent at one of New Jersey Campgrounds and enjoy some s'mores.
  5. Add to your bird watching life list at the Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge or Cape May Bird Observatory.
  6. If the weather doesn't suit you, visit the Newark Museum where you can see the restored restored Ballantine Victorian mansion and catch a show in the planetarium.
  7. Enjoy Portuguese, Brazilian, and Spanish Cuisine in Newark's Ironbound District.
  8. Root for the Newark Bears baseball team or the Jersey Jackals.
  9. Take a tour of the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart 89 Ridge Street in Newark - a stunning French Gothic stained glass-filled church.
  10. NJPAC presents Smokey Joe’s Cafe at Montclair State University's Alexander Kasser Theatre on Wednesday, July 18, through Sunday, July 22.
  11. Register for the NJ try-outs of American Idol at the Prudential Center on June 21st.
  12. 12.Visit the Golden Nugget Antiques Market in Lambertville. Have lunch at River Horse Brewing Company.
  13. Bike the towpath along the 175 year old Delaware & Raritan Canal in Lambertville.
  14. Visit Cape May, a National Historic District, and don't miss the incredibly preserved 1879 Emlen Physick Estate.
  15. Shop the Washington Street Mall in Cape May. Visit the Cape May lighthouse at Cape May Point State Park.
  16.  Take a trip on the Cape May Whale Watcher.
  17. See "God of Carnage" at the Cape May Stage.
  18. Tour Rutgers University and dine at Stuff Yer Face, where chef Mario Batali made his start.
  19. Pick your own fruits and vegetables at a Jersey farm.
  20. Take a tour of one of NJ's fine wineries.
  21. Tour the Gothic Princeton University Chapel and the Princeton University Art Museum.
  22. Walk through Princeton and visit the Princeton Battlefield State Park.
  23. Fish or canoe along theDelaware and Raritan Canal State Park.
  24. Visit Clinton and the 10-acre Red Mill Museum Village.
  25. Check out the Hunterton Art Museum.
  26. If indoor gambling is more your style, visit the Trump Taj Mahal, the Revel and Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City.
  27.  Outlet shopping in Atlantic City features Tanger Outlets - The Walk.
  28. Stroll the Steel Pier boardwalk in Atlantic City and enjoy some salt water taffy.
  29. Take a  fishing boat  out of Belmar.
  30. Tour Barnegat Lighthouse State Park at Long Beach Island.
  31. Visit the Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor.
  32. Do some shopping at NJ's largest outlet mall -  Jersey Gardens.
  33. Catch a show at the Ritz theater company.
  34.  Take a dip in the Pool at Harrrah's.
  35.  Visit NJ's largest lake at Lake Hopatcong. Pack a picnic.
  36.  Ride the custom built freeride and downhill mountain bike trails at Diablo Freeride Park.
  37.  Visit the Atlantic City Aquarium.
  38.  Tour Main Street Haddonfield and see where the world's first full dinosaur skeleton was located.
  39.  Visit the Wheaton Village Museum of American Glass.
  40.  Catch some rays at Wildwood's Boardwalk and Beach.
  41. Visit New Jersey's famous piers with world-class roller coasters and waterparks.
  42.  Learn some history at the Edison National Historic Site.
  43.  Little ones will love the Turtle Back Zoo or  Popcorn Park Zoo.
  44.  Walk the woods of the  Eagle Rock Reservation and see Essex County's 9-11 Memorial which overlooks the World Trade Center site.
  45.  Get soaked at  Mountain Creek Waterpark.
  46.  Stroll the Seaside Heights boardwalk which features Jenkinson's Breakwater Beach Water Park at Casino PierCasino Arcade or the Big Top Arcade.
  47.  Explore NJ's barrier island ecosystem at Island Beach State Park.
  48.  Visit one of the 50 State parks operated by  New Jersey's Division of Parks and Forestry.
  49.  Visit the Millville Army Airfield Museum.
  50. Take a hot air balloon ride.
  51. Play some golf at one of the  public courses in NJ.
  52. Choose local fruits and vegetables at a farmers market.
  53. Visit Six Flags Great Adventure and don't forget the Safari!
  54. Take the little ones to Storybook land in Egg Harbor Township.
  55. Visit the Adventure Aquarium in Camden.

Wayne and Jean~ I lived in NJ for 15 years and my Mom and Sister still live there.  I've been to a few of these places.  My personal favorites are Great Adventure and farmer's markets, and of course, visiting the Jersey shore!
