Life DesignIf you were to sit down with a pad and pen under a tree and write a plan for your business or a life design outline remember that

Attraction Is A Fundamental In Life Design

What I mean by that is not some simple book stated Law of Attraction to keep in mind. But understanding the WHAT of how attraction works. Here is the subtle point:

You should not attract what you want in life.

You Attract What You Are In Life.

In other words, this attraction magnet of yours starts from within. You want good things, be a good person. You want abundant living, remind yourself inside you are already rich and worthy. Think in business, horse people attract horse clients. Financially smart CPAs attract folk who need help with the accounting with their books or taxes. Decorative talents attract staging clients. Leaders get followers to set forth on a plan. It all starts from within.

The caution as you scratch away on your pad is who you don't want to attract. People with a sick or twisted spirit, angry people, unhappy ones, vulgar or even downright evil individuals. It is a poor reflection on your inner core if these people are in your circles.

The antidote to not attracting those that don't reflect that brilliant light contained within you is the OPPOSITE of attraction. You must REPEL these people out of your life. They do not reflect your core values. Even if you yourself have come from a dark background in the past you can flip that switch to light on the inside any day you choose, even faking it till you make it. Till one day you see all that has been attracted around you, good people, loving people, honest people, people that support you, and your inner core and your outer world are in harmony. The way things are supposed to be.

Adjust that inner core ATTRACTION MAGNET of yours for what you want in life. Then, IT WILL BE AS YOU WANT WITH WHAT YOU SEE IN YOUR OUTER WORLD.

Gary- Your post made me stop and think, I really needed to read it this morning! When you're happy and positive sometimes it causes people to go to the dark side towards you but, you make such a good point that if you keep your inner core as an attraction magnet for what you want you will end up surrounded with it. Great Zen! Fortunately I've been on that tack most of my life. At 66 you just don't want to have to deal with a lot of inner conflict and complications.

Dear Gary,

Taking a mental health moment every now and again to see, what you want to attract & repel makes sense.

Hi Gary -- great point; from a structural dimension to be authentic...yet from a spiritual dimension to show intuition, empathy and balance, from a professional dimension, clarity, loyalty, integrity and accountability to add the best service to the client, and to be congruent with my own values and, finally, finally, to embrace the universal dimension in respect and knowing to have done the right thing, regardless. Love your post!

Excellent post. Eagles soar with other eagles and it took me a long time to determine who isn't an eagle and who should be avoided in my journey of life.

Thanks Gary, great advice!

I started reading this thinking it was a summary of the law of attraction, then it became something more.

Yes, we do attract. We attract what we are and what we think about. Thus - a caution in repelling that which we don't want. The way to do it is to turn away - to ignore. To turn our thoughts to the people and circumstances we do  want, and to give conscious thought to appreciation of what we already have.

If we give energy and attention to pushing against anyone or any situation, we will draw that unwanted person or situation  to us.

I also think Eric (#3) has a valid point when he says: "That's not to say though that if unhappy or angry people want to be in your company this means you have negative qualities. Maybe they believe through their relationship with you they can improve upon their condition."

When people see you as calm, in control, and loving life, some will be attracted in the hope that they can learn your secret.

I agree with this principle, very good stuff!  I heard it put in a book that we first be, then do, then have, instead of the other way around.  This book was called "Feelings Buried Alive Never Die".  Up by where I went to school there was these really tight caves, I crawled with some co-eds one night through some very tight spots.  Well... it is a very tight spot to conclude that what we are trying to attract is contained first from within.  It is like Jesus said, in HIS version of faith, that if it is pure enough to be the faith of a "musterd seed" we could "move mountains".  I submit that you've hit on purity.  Toggling a switch from attracting from the outside to "attraction magnent" as a concep of WHO we are, recognizes some fundamental truths regarding "the God within".  Not that I'm a full on nostic, but that the simple truths about us are not contrived from without is fundamental to a strong identity of who we are- as Sons and Daughters of God.  We surround ourselves, says this same book with like frequency thoughts or such as is our nature... then we will be tackling the tight spots of "how we feel".  To tantelize you further, those tight caves... well, they concrete sealed them off, becuase a guy got stuck one night.  His joints swelled and he died stuck in there.  Now, before you all get stir crazy, there is always hope when we know that eventually we'll get out of our "tight spots/scrapes".  He most certainly did when he slipped on to the other side, like walking through a door into another room.  This is why I believe it is important in my own faith to believe in Christ, OK.  But at any rate, as this book puts forth, our feelings, those that limit us in life, may have been imprinted upon us, when we came through or own tight spot, when we were born!... that we were thinking and feeling our way through LIFE as we know it. And in the word of the poet Woodsworth... 'from trailing clouds of glory did we come, from God who is our home'.  I submit, that to some degree, we have to have had to experience the tight and bad (hopefully just the kind that happens to us and not what we have chosen to be) with the good, we have to have known the one to know the other.  This is oft times what the Law of Attraction, although true, does not contain all the truth, all the laws.  It is an identifying and centering law, indeed transforming.  As I first remember first wrestling with it though, I wondered if it truly was a panacea.  While it is reinforcing and liberating, does it contain all Laws?  To transform we need to indentify how to overcome by aligning ourselves with all truth.  To me the authors truth ressonates as to identity, Being, of a like kind frequency, that we gravitate and seek other things that will match that, to me is transforming some of how we understand the Law of Attraction.  Transforming our feelings, those pesky negative ones I've often thought requires a magnent yes, toward the better, but is it a distraction from myself always... perhaps to lose ones life, yes.  But also that some asnwers can "be found" like this authors teaching this principle.  To me it incited this writing.

I love this!  And, it's so ironic since I mentioned something like this yesterday to my customer.  They wanted someone to help with window treatments and I recommended a decorator who I love and is great w/ colors and customers.  I warned them that she charges for the appt but she is well worth it.  I said I know another person who gives free appts but she is not as good and importantly, she is a negative person , and none of us needs any more of that in our life.

Great post Gary!!! It's hard for a salesperson to turn down business BUT there are some people that show their true colors from the start and it's better to walk away from working with them vs. maybe making a commission.

Have a great week - Betsy

Hi Gary - I too learned long ago that it just doesn't pay to be around negative people! I have several of them who are trying to get into my life and make me as miserable as they are, but I can't let them! Still, they can manage to get you down, but you have to stay strong and positive.
