December comparison from Franklin, TN

December wrap up for Franklin, TN

As many of you have heard or seen through the media, the "housing market" was "terrible". Well that's not really the case in our great state of Tennessee. When the media reports this information, they are loking at it on a national level, not local which in turn may hurt the rest of it. Sure last year there were more home sales, but did you realize that this was the 4th best year for our local market? According to GNAR's Mandy Wachtler:

"Ending the year as the fourth-best year on record is very encouraging considering the state of real estate in other parts of the country," said Mandy Wachtler, 2008 President of the Greater Nashville Association of Realtors. "While our numbers are down compared to most recent years, it would be nearly impossible to keep up with that pace. We set a record for the number of homes sold for six consecutive years. The market was bound to normalize at some point, and it did last year."

This is great news and needs to be looked at in a positive way! Here are some numbers from December from 2006 % 2007:

Todd, I am a Realtor at RE/MAX Action Realty and it's same here in Greenwood SC Lake Greenwood SCour market is strong, we had a little bit of a slow down here at the end of the year in town but not anything as bad as some other places that have been in a slump most of the year. Aren't we blessed! I sell on Lake Greenwood and that market is very strong, we have the best lake prices around and people are flocking to this area. The best deals are in interior and lakeview lots and homes. If you know of anyone who is looking for a lake property have them call me.

Back at ya as far as the referrals go!  I think we are blessed.  I just wish consumers would pay more attention to the local reports rather than the national!  We have a few Realtors start retaliating here and I don' t know if it has helped or not, but the local media has been giving more positive news about the real estate market.

Todd I forgot to add something. The public would pay more attention to local reports if those were as plentiful as the national reports are. So we'll keep blogging about our local statistics and the word will travel far and wide
