My son, Sascha, and I were out early this morning taking a walk together and we covered 6.1 miles. Along the way I was able to take some fantastic photos of Lake Tarpon and John Chesnut Park.
Convenient to the East Lake Area, John Chesnut Park is 255 acres of natural Florida beauty. The park is located on the eastern shore of Lake Tarpon, which is the largest lake in Pinellas County (5 miles long and over a mile wide).
John Chesnut Park has 14 picnic shelters with grills, two playgrounds, miles of trails and boardwalks running through the swamps filled with Cypress trees, a fantastic doggie park for your four legged friends, an observation tower, softball field and boat ramp to put your boat into Lake Tarpon.
Swimming in the lake is NOT allowed - while a great place for bass fishing, the lake is also full of alligators!
