Do you know who your neighbors are?

My wife and I talked about this this past winter.  We live in a rural Minnesota home and years ago we knew everyone for miles around.

But, life happens and the population grows and next thing you know...we look and wonder..."Who lives there now?"

Years ago you could depend on a neighbor or several if you needed help.  Today, you don't know if you could trust the neighbor because you don't even know who they are.

This spring, my wife and I decided to get to know the people around us.  We met some great people and most were glad to meet us as well.

I won't say we are all good friends...but there is a lot more waving going on with the cars that drive by now!

And...we don't see any of these signs around either!

Getting to know your neighbors over the fence or with a neighborhood gathering is great Bill. Not done near enough nowadays...

We live on a curvy road around a lake, and because of Chief Cook, mostly, we know all the neighbors and there isn't much turnover around here and when there is, it is because Chief Cook sold the house.  So we know the new neighbors anyway!

Its a good idea to meet your neighbors. We are sort of kept to ourselves, and probably should do this.

Hi William, yeah, I agree. It's nice to know who are neighbors. It's good to meet new friends once in a while and be updated with our neighborhood.

My area is very rural. We have 10 acres, our neighbor on the right has 80, behind us they have 20 acres and you get the idea. I would like to think I'm the good neighbor. I always let my neighbor know when his cows get out. I didn't yell at him when one year they were wading in my four foot tall tomato plants. But overall the people in my area keep to themselves.

I find that most people sorta want to be alone, but we should at least be able to know who lives around us for many reasons.

There have been times that I wish i had a sign like this one.  I know all the neighbors.  Small town mentality I guess.
