Don't we all encounter folks like this? I know I do. Often times, in certain situations, I find it's best to breathe deep, find humor, laugh a little, and take what some people say or do with a grain of salt. Or, as a good friend of mine once advised many years ago: "You just have to pray for 'em and keep on going!" I love that adage ....
True. We are all under the mistaken belief we are the center of all things important!
Hi Carie,
I have never understood the whole 'Look at me' attitude. It seems most of the folks that crave attention have many other issues as well...
-Brent
My four year old twin granddaughters think they are the center of the universe. But after 4, it's not cute anymore.
What? I thought it had been discovered right in my own backyard!! Dang...now I have to reinvent myself.
Absolutely true....and so many of them seem to be single men (according to a friend of mine). Oh dear!!!
There was a time when I would actually take these people seriously. Now I have become an Oscar contender. Just a great way to have a big laugh at the end of the day with my husband and a glass of wine.
For a profession like ours, where you encounter a lot of different people and the types of transactions we do, this type of person is unavoidable.
Carie,
It is amazing some days how many hats we have to wear to make people happy.
I think it's odd that we both are thinking the same thing at the same time, LOL. That's exactly what I was talking about to my husband yesterday. It's kinda spooky, actually. Or maybe the whole world is so self-absorbed that it's hard not to notice?
Janis: My radar as well!
Rob: 'Center of the Universe' disease ... good one!
William: Recognize? Perhaps. Admit? Probably Not. :)
DeeDee: It's all how you handle the situation, right?
Margaret: Quite sparse, indeed :)
Debbie: I think it's amusing as well ... have a great week too!
Kathryn: You're right ... it is funny because it is so true!
Michelle: I agree with you ... the approach we take and the method of our response to a situation makes such a difference!
Paula: I've been noticing a lot of great signs lately!
David: Thanks ... it gives us some food for thought, yes? :)
Richard & Jean: Yes, they do come and go. And, there seems to be plenty to go around :)
Vanessa: Just to name a few, right? :) Oh, yes ... you do wonder about those types!
Michael: Challenging people in any part of life!
Jared & Amanda: You're right! It is amazing ... and at the same time, kinda sad too.
John: Thanks ... you have a fabulous week as well!
Gary: It's a mistaken belief, for sure!
Brent: So insightful! And, I couldn't agree with you more!
Jeanne: That is so funny! Yes, after 4 ... it isn't cute any longer :)
Mike: Sorry .... :)
Karen: Could be! In my experience, though, it seems to be a male/female, equal opportunity 'affliction' :)
Richie: Well said!
Chris: You have a great attitude! I like your style :)
Ira: Thanks! Yes, we all know folks like this, for sure!
Morgan: There's always one in the bunch somewhere, right? :)
Pamela: Very true! We have to be chameleons sometimes!
Elizabeth: Great minds think alike? :) I agree with you ... self-absorbtion seems to be an epidemic at times!
Hi Carie- very cute - we all know a few people like that... it can be fun, exasperating, frustrating and many more things... I recently wrote an email that started off " while we chatted for an hour last night...." we have nothing but time on our hands for them!..
I adore this picture lol :)! That just about says it all. The best thing to do is not take it personally, although sometimes it can get quite frustrating for sure :)!
Gay: Yes, many adverbs associated with people like that, for sure :)
Brenda: Thanks! And, you're right. No matter how frustrating ... don't take it personally and just try to smile :)
Carie, Very well said. We have all met them and can't always say it is a pleasant encounter.
Debbie: You're right, Debbie ... "pleasant" is usually not the word that comes to mind :)
Hi Carie - Dropping back by today to thank you for being so supportive in the Rain. You are greatly appreciated my friend. Enjoy your day to the fullest.
