I'm seizing the moment and I'm taking a rare weekend off. My parents are here for a visit, the temps climbed above 100 degrees yesterday, the girls are going stir crazy ... so we are off to spend 3 days at the beach on Assateague Island, Maryland's paradise.
When we visited Assateague Island last summer we quickly declared it to our favorite beach. Having been to a few on 3 different continents, we are totally qualified to make the call, too. There are no hotels or high rise condos anywhere, it's a treasure cove of sea glass and sea shells that has every little girl going squee in delight and seeing a wild horse trot by you while you soak up the sun is just really special.
It's such a peaceful place - and just about 3 hours (give or take some depending on traffic) from the Wash DC - Baltimore Metro area which makes it a perfect weekend get-away destination.
So I'm seizing the moment, I'm off to spend the weekend in Maryland's paradise with hubby, the girls and my parents. We'll spend hours building sand castles, collecting sea shells, admiring the view and feeling the sand between our toes ....
