Take Your Best Friend to Work- Its National Take Your Dog To Work Day
Roughly 2.3 million dogs are taken to work by 1.4 million owners every day: lucky dogs!
Take Your Dog to Work Day was created about 13 years ago by Pet Sitters International to tout the stress reducing benefits of pets and encourage adoptions from shelters. You can visit them at www.petsit.com
If you can take your dog to work; make sure you have these in mind:
- All vaccinations should be up-to-date.
- Honestly evaluate whether your dog is a “social” dog and likes being around other dogs and other people. Make sure it is well-trained.
- Bring along toys: quiet toys. No squeakers please.
- Bring Fido’s bed, water bowl, food bowl with you to make him/her more comfortable.
- Use a baby gate if you prefer to keep your office door open.
- Make sure people are aware that you have a dog in your office--some folks get upset when one runs up to them unexpectedly.
Who knows, maybe you will make a new assistant out of your dog. My cat Shayna wants to know when is going to be National Bring Your Cat to Work Day?
