But what about those who are not soccer moms? How does being a soccer friendly city, affect the livability of that city? The compilers of this list stated that "cities with impressive, well-maintained soccer complexes also have great parks, well-maintained streets and a host of other amenities that provide residents a high quality of life." This claim is evidenced by the availability of many amenities for city dwellers.

Specifically West Jordan has the Utah Youth Soccer Complex, which is one of the top-rated sports facilities in the country. This large complex has 20 soccer fields on 117 acres. But what about other parks? West Jordan also has 6 mini-parks with playgrounds and open areas, 29 neighborhood parks, several tennis courts, a rodeo arena, 15 baseball fields, and a recreation center.

The study also indicated that the soccer influened the social nature of the city. Researchers stated, "there is a sense of community and camraderie developed in soccer that is hard to match. When paired with the disciplined teamwork of soccer and the healthy lifestyle promoted by activity in your sports, the quality of life in any community that embraces the sport is enhanced."

In addition to providing an opportunity for families to be involved in soccer, West Jordan is close to the local Major League Soccer Stadium in Sandy, UT. The Rio Tinto Stadium is home of the Real Salt Lake team. The team provides entertainment for an average of 17,365 fans per game.

Soccer has become the most popular youth sport in the country! It is good to see that, in addition to the health and social benefits of getting your youth involved, supporting the sport can also have a positive impact on your community.
