About 20 miles due West of Big Rapids is a little place called Bitely, MI. I lived there for a few years and absolutely fell in love with the area. If you are looking for connecting with nature it starts in Bitely, MI. The town itself is not very big but the hearts of it's residents more than fill it. With a few thriving businesses like the Bitely Tavern, Bitely Store and the Up North Gift Shop along with a post office and Sippy Flats Party Store has all of your necessities covered. Lilley Township Fire Department is right in town so they can be ready to go if needed and they even have an ambulance and first responders to help until the medics can arrive.
One of the things I most enjoyed about Bitely, MI is if you go in any direction a couple miles you are in the woods. There is ten's of thousands of acres of State and Federal land surrounding Bitely and several lakes to fill your fishing needs. Bitely Lake has been know to have huge Northern Pike and Mill Lake has some good sized crappie. Looking for all sports action, try Nichols Lake just west of town or take a trip a few miles North and try Big Star Lake, with over 900 acres of water it should be enough. The atmosphere in Bitely, MI is laid back and relax and visitors are welcomed with open arms. The locals will rib you for a while about being flatlanders but if you find yourself in need you can count on them.
Hunting and fishing opportunities are endless and property values are affordable. There are currently 37 residential listings in Bitely and another 20 for vacant land ranging up to 80 acres. The fishing is great as is the hunting. There are miles and miles of two tracks waiting to be explored and a great community waiting to greet you. Take a day, drive to Bitely, MI and experience nature. You'll be glad you did and if you decide to stay give me a call and we will find you a home or parcel to camp. See you there.
