A Foodie's Guide to DC Food Shopping:  The Dupont Circle Farmers Market

On Sunday mornings, you can find some of the freshest, most delicious food in the DC area at the Dupont Circle Farmers' Market.

Whether you want fresh greens, eggs laid by happy hens, melt in your mouth cheeses, or beef from pampered cows,    And when I set the table, I can buy beautiful fresh flowers for a centerpiece.  And when I wash up, I can do it with the fresh home made soap made by a family in rural Virginia.

For someone on a diet that allows one real meal a day (that would be me) the Dupont farmer vendors can help me make it totally delicious.

The vendors set up at 8:30 in the morning on 20th Street between Massachusetts Avenue and Q Street NW.

And well behaved dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash and don't hump legs.  Sorry, Willie the Labradoodle, you'll have to stay home.  But I'll bring you a bone from a pampered bovine to make up for it.

If you are planning a move to or from the Washington, DC area, I can help!  I am licensed in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.  You may call, email or text me at:

Pat, that looks great.  I love the images of a farmer's market.  All of the colors are amazing, and of course the wonderful food available is a plus.  Sorry, Willie.

I bought fresh the other day Pat. The strawberries were all so sweet because they were left to mature until they were... instead of being picked before their time. People have no idea what they are missing. These markets have value

Thanks you for all of your comments.  I can't wait until next Sunday!

Deborah, Oh no!  I hope your leg heals soon.

Tom, it looks fresher because it's picked ripe and doesn't sit around some cnetral distribution unit for a couple of weeks.

there is a whole network of farmers markets that set up in different locations on different days.  This one seems to attract a lot of vendors because it's on a weekend and in a popular location.

I love farmers markets.  The produce is ready to eat and not picked "too soon".  I'd like it to ripen on the vine rather than in my kitchen where it usually sits waiting to ripen then rots and I throw away.

The recent surge in popularity of the farmer's market in our country is a promising trend. For too long over processed junk food has dominated dietary trends. Especially for the kids.

Eating fresh and healthy has never been easier. I love my local famer's market and we have farms all over the Hudson Valley with stores open year-round. Support your local farmer!

I love any "foodie" things....farmer's markets are such fun to wander through. I especially love it when they offer samples of things they have made with their products.

Pat, I am a big fan of local Farmer's markets.  They tend to have local produce that is much fresher than what is available at supermarkets...

Don't you love the many sweet things at the Farmer's Market.  I'm meeting a potential client tomorrow at a coffee shop I like.  I mentioned that parking might be tight because of the farmer's market and then suggested she might like to go to it -- she's relatively new to town and didn't know!  She loved my suggestion.  Farmer's Markets are GREAT and in full swing 'til the fall.

Didn't we cross paths one morning at the Dupont Farmers Market?  LOL any farmers market is the place to be at this time of year.  My poor veggies in the garden are having a hard time in the heat...and me too.
