COLUMBUS, GA - A new report lists Columbus as one of Georgia's top three cities to land premium jobs.
According to data conducted by Georgia State University, Atlanta, Columbus and Savannah hold the highest number of premium jobs in the state.
Officials define premium jobs as those that pay more than $50,000 a year.
"Back in 1998 we were number seven out of seven in per capita income for all the MSAs in Georgia, now we're number two. I think it just validates that it takes a long time to try and bring up your per capita income, it takes a long time to try to bring up wages and salaries," Columbus Chamber of Commerce President Mike Gaymon says.
The top four industry employers in Georgia are wholesale retail trade, health care, leisure and hospitality and educational services.
