My Business is Dependent on Technology

There is no question that business has changed over the last 20 years.  I remember doing business when cell phones were installed in cars, everyone carried a pager and fax machines used thermal paper.  I am happy to say that we have moved forward and that I have kept up with the times.  My business is totally dependent on technology.  If I were to select the most valuable item, I am not sure I could identify just one.

I absolutely can not live without my iPhone.  I have had the Blackberry and Droid in the past, but I must say I do prefer the iPhone.  It has been easy to learn and who wouldn't love "Siri".  I have streamlined my business calls so that all calls eventually will be transferred to one number.  It has simplified my life considerably.  I no longer have to worry about a missed call,

On the other hand, I have found that I absolutely can not live without my hotspot.  That hot spot gives me the ability to work any where, any time.  With my laptop, I can get things done when they need to be addressed.  It has given me the opportunity to not worry about rushing back to the office.  Having this technology available has been a deal saver in the past.  I wouldn't give it up for anything.

I have given up on my desk top computer and work solely with a laptop computer.  It no longer matters if I am working at the office, at home, or in a real estate office.  I have everything I need with me at all times.

In my computer bag, everything fits nice and neat.  I grab one bag and out the door I go.  It doesn't get any better than that, but I do wonder what wonderful new technology might come along to make my job easier yet!

Completely agree with you! It is nice to have such technology at our fingertips that were really don't have to stress about missing emails, getting to the office to get work completed. So thankful!

Hi Kathy,  You are so preaching to the choir here !  I'm not as detached as you ( did that sound right ? ) but agree we are tech driven.  Have a terrific weekend !

Kathy, I could not agree more. I myself am a bit of a technology geek! My business and marketing even center around technology. Thanks for sharing this with all of us!

Kathy, technology has helped us do many more things much faster. I had iPhone - and could not live without it. Now I have my Droid and Tablet with hot spot and do business anywhere and everywhere.

Just wondering how THEY did business when technology was not there...

I've lived off a laptop for years and will never go back to a desktop.  I don't have a hotspot but will get one once the new Verizon data plans go into effect (free hotspot).

Kathy:

It is amazing how quickly we began to rely on our new devises.  But I wouldn't like to get along without my IPhone and IPad.

Kathy - My business is technology dependent to some extent.  It certainly makes it easier and would put me at a stand still for a few days if I suddenly didn't have it.

Hi Kathy, you wouldnt think that someone who tromps around in the woods for a living would be tech dependent, but like you I am useless without my technology these days, dont know how we survived in the old days before all of these toys.

Technology sure has made working my business easier!  Can't image going back to the "old days."  My car navigation system got sick and now appears to have died and while I have one on my smart phone, it's not as easy or safe to utilize.  Boy am I lost without it!! Wonder what new technology will come about to make our jobs easier.

I could not agree more with you: iphone with apps and hot spot - all we need.

Iphone does contracts, scans, emails, signatures~ amazing how fast technologies changed our lives!

Some of my clients so amazed to see my 'on the go' business office:)

Congrats on being featured!

I completely agree.  Today's technology is really mind-blowing.  I remember when IBM PCs were first put into offices, and then into homes.  I remember "graduating" from a beeper and carphone to a brick cell phone.  Then came high speed laptops and faster cell phones.  And now we have computers in our pockets all the time!  I always look at it like this:  I don't want to be the person telling Henry Ford that I don't need a car because I have a horse and buggy.

I appreciate my iPhone and iPad and would have trouble doing business without. However, I now have three listings that the sellers do not have access to email...Thank goodness two of those three are under contract.

The best tool is the one that use and use it well. Sounds like you have found the right combination for your business.

Hi Kathy, I so appreciate all the technology that has made it easier and faster to do business---we live in an area however, where cell phones do not always work and a percentage of the retired population doesn't "do" email...I find with those clients I spend a lot more face time and really get to know them better
