The 4th of July celebration is Wake Forest is spectacular event! Between the bands, the parachute team, the food and games there is SO MUCH for all ages to enjoy. Fireworks? You Bet! Wake Forest has one of the BEST displays of fireworks I have EVER seen.
The fun starts on Thursday, July 3rd at Heritage High School! Gates open at 5:00pm which gives you plenty of time to seek out your "best" spot. Don't worry - all seating is prime. Admission is $5.00 per person and children under 6 are free. A few of the highlights include:
- The Band of Oz - This band is incredible! One of the southeast's BEST beach music bands AND a 1997 Beach Music Hall of Fame Inductee!
- Don Carrington's Parachute Team. I just HAVE to mention here again - my tandem partner is part of this team. You didn't know I LOVE jumping out of planes? Well, check it out here! Wake Forest and Skydiving? Yep, like chips and salsa, peanut butter and jelly....... (there is sound!)
- 20 minutes of the most incredible fireworks you will see!
Then, on July 4th it just gets even better!
- Children's Parade along North Main Street to Holding Park (Line up starts at 10am at the intersection of North Main Street and Juniper Avenue)
Then, starting at 11am Holding Park continues on with the festivitites! Games, food, watermelon seed spitting contests, sack races, tug-o-war and so much more! It is a wonderful event that you just won't want to miss!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!
