Triple Digit Torture!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Richard Weisser Realty

Ruby Throated Hummingbird by Richard WeisserLike much of the country has already experienced, today we will see temperatures in triple digits in Coweta County Georgia.

It’s on days like this that I am thankful that I have a job that does not keep me outside for significant periods of time, and that I can control my environment during the hottest parts of the day.

I pray that those that must work outside take all of the necessary precautions to protect their health in these extreme conditions.

However, it is also important to remain our friend in the animal kingdom, who must combat the temperatures head on. I always make sure that I provide “cooling” stations with plenty of fresh water for both the birds and the mammals that might have no other resource for survival.

It just takes a little time and very little effort, but the creatures in the yard will appreciate it!

I do notice that customers feel the heat too and tend not to want to do much when it is very hot.

Well said. Triple Digit torture and that is exactly what it is.  Some people seem to handle it better than others but still, working outside in that heat - dangerous and scary that's for sure.

We certainly feel the pain you'll be experiencing.  It was 108 on our patio a couple of days this week.  And when you add humidity to the equation it seems much hotter.

Good morning Richard,

We experienced a record breaker on Tuesday..109 degrees! It's inching its way down but it is hot! You are right about our little bird friends..we keep a couple "cooling" stations also..we would miss our regulars that is for sure.

I heard this prediction this morning.  I am with you, I will not be out during the end of the day especially when air quality is unhealthy!  Take care  - - - don't forget to drink WATER!  It will help get you through it.

Morning Richard -

We're seeing record highs too.  Yesterday we noticed workers tearing up a stretch of interstateand made the comment how thankful we were for our office job.  As odd as it sounds our home office stays quiet cool and we're only turning on the AC a couple hours a day.  The high desert is blessed to not have humidity to deal with.  Stay cool...

Richard it's so hot here we're fying eggs on the sidewalk!  113 is the high today which is craziness for us so early on.  We take a lot of extra protection for plants, animals and sunsreeen - especially now.

Our outdoor kitty, despite having the welcome wagon to live inside, insists on being outside even on days like today.  He has plenty of water and yours truly goes out, picks him up every hour or ninety minutes and brings him in to cool off.  While he doesn't like to stay inside, he never complains when he is brought in.

Why is it I'm warm when you're cold and I'm cool when you're hot? I'll stay in Northern California, thank you.

It is warm for sure.

Where did you find a hummingbird in the dark?  I am sure there is a trick, but I don't know what it is.
