There is nothing better than a spectacular display of fireworks on the 4th of July. The DC and Northern Virginia area offer a wide selection of places to take in a pyrotechnic display celebrating our nations Independence Day.
The Washington Monument of course is the sight for DC’s biggest display of Fireworks. The only advice is to go early, be prepared for the security checks and stay hydrated.
A Capitol Fourth Concert and Fireworks
July 4 at 6 pm. A Fourth of July tradition in the nation’s capital includes a live concert by the National Symphony Orchestra and several pop artists performing patriotic music on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol Building followed by fireworks over the National Monument. The annual event is broadcast live on PBS with a repeat airing from 9:30-11 pm. The concert will also be broadcast over National Public Radio on WAMU – 88.5 FM. If you don’t want to head into DC to see Fireworks then there are plenty of choices in Northern Virginia.
The Marine Corps Memorial (Iwo Jima) and the Air Force Memorial on Columbia Pike offer a great place to watch the DC Fireworks without driving into town.
Lake Fairfax Fireworks Spectacular
July 4 - Fireworks start at 9:15 PM. Park is open all day to enjoy the Water Mine Swimming Hole and an inner tube ride on the Rattlesnake River. Park will open at 10 AM. 1400 Lake Fairfax Drive Reston VA.
Town of Vienna 4th of July Celebration
July 4 - Vienna Community Center will have a family festival starting at 11 AM Fireworks at 9:15 pm at Southside Park on Ross Drive Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St. S.E Vienna VA
Celebrate America in Manassas
July 3 - Old Town Manassas live country music, food concessions and apple pie contest. Bands start playing at 4:00 PM Fireworks at 9:15 pm. Visitor’s Center, 9431 West St., Manassas; 703-361-6599;
Potomac Nationals Pfitzner Stadium
July 4 - Enjoy an evening of baseball as the Potomac Nationals take on the Frederick Keys. If you want to attend the game you must purchase game tickets. The fireworks start after the game which starts at 6:35PM. Last year over 10,000 people showed up! 7 County Complex Ct. Woodbridge VA 22192
Alexandria VA
July 7 - The City of Alexandria from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Oronoco Bay Park, 100 Madison St., located at the Potomac River between Fairfax, Pendleton, and Madison Streets.

Julu 4 - Grounds open at 8 p.m- fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Free admission and parking. Shuttle buses will be available from St. John’s Lutheran Church (on Douglass St. and Georgetown Pike) and the 6520 Georgetown Pike McLean, Virginia McLean Community Center.
