Does your buyer need down payment help in North Carolina?  If the answer is yes and your buyer is a first time home buyer there is help for you by working with a mortgage professional who offers the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) down payment assistance program.  NCHFA can provide eligible borrowers with up to $8,000 in down payment assistance.  This money can be used for down payment, closing costs and setting up escrow accounts to pay taxes and insurance.

 

A few of the main guidelines are:

Ø  Must be a first time home buyer.  The definition of a first time home buyer is they have not own a home in the past three years.  There are a few exceptions.

Ø  Income must be within established county limits. Link to NCHFA.

Ø  Purchase a home with a purchase price of $225,000 or less.

Ø  Have reasonable credit.

Ø  Invest $1,000 of their own money in the transaction.

Couple this program with the historically low mortgage rates we enjoy now and there is not a better time for a first time home buyer to purchase a home.
