So delighted to hear that Mary Douglas was able to go home.  I have followed Mary's Blog over the years.  She is witty and I also appreciate her photographs; so when I heard about the fire in Colorado she was one who came to mind.

Knowing Mary she will be working hard helping those who lost everything, find a place to live.

Prickly Pear CactusComing home after the High Park Fire

Yesterday afternoon we received a reverse 911 call letting us know that residents in Glacier View Meadows, Hewlett Gulch, Deer Meadows and Green Mountain Meadows could return home.

Other southern areas, near Rist Canyon, Bellvue and Poudre Park are also going or are going to go home soon.

The good news comes in the shadow of knowing that 260 High Park Fire evacuees can never go home; 60 of those homes were in our area, 54 of those were in Glacier View Meadows.  My heart aches for the people who have lost their homes; some are calling our office looking for a place to rent or even a new home in these mountains, I’ve had 2 such calls already today.

They love these mountains, we all do.  This is the place that we call home.

The National Guard has left the “northern flank of the fire” (where we are) fire crews are still working the fire’s interior- but many have left the area to go help in Colorado Springs and on other fires.

There is still a lot to do.

Thank you for your love, support and concern.  The number of calls and emails has been amazing; our communities have shown incredible strength of character.   The firefighters, support crews, information officers and law enforcement have done an outstanding job.  After almost 3 weeks, it looks like we are nearing the end of the High Park Fire- let’s hope so!

If you have a home you would consider renting please let us know at Ponderosa Realty- together, we will get through this.

Jennifer.. my daughter is currently living in Colorado in Boulder, but not near the fires. It has been a terrible tragedy for those that live there. So many lost so much. Losing your home to a fire is a devasting thing. THey will be glad that Mary Douglas will find them a new place. She will be able to help many for sure.

While wildfires continue to blaze in several of our Western States, Colorado is being especially hard hit.  I had been concerned about Mary because of her location.  I'm really grateful she is safe, and was able to return home.  My heart goes out to those enduring these disasters.
