Fun Sights On Portlands' 99E Mcloughlin Blvd.
Lately I've been driving down the stretch of Mcloughlin Blvd. that runs from I-205 to Close-In SE Portland for my listings in the Brooklyn and Waverly Heights neighborhood.
This part of Mcloughlin Blvd. runs from Oregon City, through Milwaulkie, Gladstone, Sellwood/Moreland and flows through Downtown Portland on the east side of the Willamette River. eventually ending at the Columbia River.
With Portland's "keep Portland Wierd" slogan, one wouldn't really look twice if they were driving along and came upon a World War II Bomber. Located at The Bomber Restaurant, this has been here since 1947. If you want to take a nostalgic trip back into time, check it out!
Now..while there your eyes can't help but wonder why in the world would there be a huge Totem Pole in the same location as a World War II Bomber. Yep, I wondered this myself as I have no clue..but it's pretty cool!
I'm also reminded of where I grew up everytime I drive down Mcloughlin Blvd. when I pass Lew's Long Coney Islands & Burgers. YUM..so bad for ya, but Ohhhh so good.
I took a double take the first time I saw Lady Libertie's head and torch high above a strip mall. The Statue of Liberty in Milwaulkie Oregon? Yeah sure..why not! This IS Portland after all! Standing at 50' tall, according to roadsideamerica.com, the owner of the strip mall where it's located..who is of Middle Eastern decent, bought this replica to show everyone his love for his country.
All of these fun sights can be found along 99E between Oregon City and Downtown Milwaulkie. Go check them out! Oh..and if you would love to move to this area, give me a call!
