Hi Debbie, I am so excited to get my floors stained by The Flooring Girl in a special walnut-that will make them dark without the red so that every other color in the house will really pop!
I like the Brazilian walnut hardwood very much. I enjoy your hardwood floor posts, learn so much from it.
Joanna - Me, too...and spoken like a true decorator...that is one of the many reasons why darks/browns work so well. (sometimes red conflict and they are limiting).
Debbie - Yes, lots of buyers love them. You're right, they are a bit less practical, but different people have different preferences.
Eileen - Me, too. Oh, and I'm so glad to hear that. Thank you.
Good morning, Debbie.... I'm more of a light, natural wood wth no stain.... the dark woods remind me of the '70's and that passed quickly.... light woods remained in style and we couldn't sell a home with dark wood floors or dark cabinets....
Barbara - In our area dark is most popular, followed closely by light/natural. The dark of today is ebony which is different than the 70's look. Nonetheless, one of the many great things about hardwood is that you can refinish and restain it to change the color based on the trends and your personal preference.
Hi Debbie,
I have natural maple throughout my entire downstairs except for the family room which is a multi color of light, med and med dark red. I wanted something to blend with the maple where it butted up to it as they had discontinued the exact product. I love hardwood floors and your article is filled with a lot of great information. I am going to send the link to one of my friends as she is trying to choose the color right now so I think your article will greatly help her. Thanks.
Debbie~ As you describe, dark woods are sleek, stylish and sophisticated! Great information for a reblog.
Debbie and I have been looking at wood flooring. So far we really seem to be drawn to Brazilian Walnut. We read your post and listen to your wisdom on flooring. Suggested.
Have a great Independence Day my friend.
