So you want to down-size.  You may never realize how difficult it is to down-size your home, if you don't own a piano.  You've given your children furniture and keep-sakes, and think everything to going great.

But, you really LOVE your piano and it gives you so much joy to play.  But the beautiful white baby grand just won't fit in the smaller homes you've been looking at.

Several solutions may be:  since most newer homes have an open floor plan, living and dining room together:

if you don't have dinner parties any longer and your children would like that dining set they

spent many a holiday dinner at = let them do holidays and you use that area for your piano

                                        OR:

If the new home has a bonus room or extra bedroom, turn that area into a music room

                                        OR:

Donate it to your local senior center or your church, with the condition you can play whenever

                                   you feel the need

                                        OR:

Stay put and work like a slave and clean that large home, of course you won't have the extra money

you were going to get by selling your large home and purchasing a less expensive one.

                                                            YOUR DECISION

That is the beauty of the good old uprights.  I have a 1912 fully restored player piano upright and I will never part with it.  It sits happily up against the end wall in my living room and it fit in my smaller living room in the house before that and my townhouse apt. before that.  Sweet music forever.
