"Helpful Staging Tips Transform a Half Wall in this Charming Home!"

In the 1950's these half walls were very popular...  they were used as planter boxes in their day.  I guess you could say back then it was a unique invention on someone's part and it became the "In" thing and houses all over were being built with this very new idea.  These days they are almost all forgotten.  Except every now and then you run across a home that still has one it in.  Maybe not used as a planter box anymore but the wall still stands.

On one of our latest Home Staging Consultations we in-fact found one.  I thought about it for awhile and what came to mind was the fact that whoever it was who invented this had a forethought that I had not thought about before.  When we as a Staging Company stage a home we bring the "Outdoors In" with each staging we do.  So maybe that was just the idea that this inventor thought when it was invented and how welcoming it must have been to walk in a home and see flowers in full bloom or plants bright and green.

So maybe, just maybe it was a good thing after all.  In your travels through homes do you still see these half walls or planter boxes???

To bring this house up-to-date before it went on the market we suggested with our Home Staging Consultation that there needed to be some improvement.  The planter box wall had an intake vent at the bottom of it, in fact it was the main intake vent in the house.  So it was not possible to move it or tare it down.  Somethings you just have to embrace and that's OK.  Sheet rock was placed around the half wall and then painted to match the rest of the house and now it looks great!

Linda, my in-laws had a half wall separating their living area and dining area. It was a planter box that was always over-filled with plants and seasonal decorations.  They could have used your assistance!

Linda - Sheet rocking and painting that pony wall was a great idea!  It now blends in with the rest of the space instead of becoming a dated eye-sore.  Great solution.

Hi Linda! You did a great job refurbishing that planter box. I grew up in a house with a brick planter box by the front door. We had plastic plants in it, because it was too dark in the room for real plants. It was tacky, but it was home!

Hi Linda ~ Your transformation of this home is remarkable!  Changing the half-wall allowed the home to look so much more updated -- what today's buyers expect.  The living room staging is very inviting and really sets the stage for seeing the rest of this home.  Nicely done!

Great problem solving, Linda!  That half wall would have really stood out if nothing had been done with it--now it blends in seamlessly!
