As many of you know, I live in beautiful Southern California in the Palm Springs Desert Area. There is so much to do in California, but I often wonder how families can afford some of these exciting outings. Most tickets to places like Disneyland, Marine World, and Lego Land run about $100 per child for the day. And that’s just to get in! You still have to factor in parking and food for the day!
You can visit the fantastic San Diego Zoo for $42 for an adult and $32 for a child. These are the same prices for the Wild Animal Park Safari’s in San Diego for the day.
Here’s a less expensive option, and one with so much to see and do. It’s The Living Desert in Palm Desert, California. Kids can feed the giraffes and see hundreds of wild animals. Hiking is also a great sport at The Living Desert. They have wildlife shows and one of the largest train villages I’ve ever seen. Prices are $14.25 for adults; $12.75 for Seniors, Military and AAA Members; $7.75 for kids 3-12 and 0-2 are Free.
How about a Day at the Beach? Or a hike up in the canyons or mountains? Want to cool off, then a ride up the San Jacinto mountain on the aerial tram is most exciting and affordable! $23.25 for adults $21.25 for Seniors and $16.26 for kids 3-12. When you reach the top, you can spend the day in cool temperatures hiking, or just relaxing and viewing the city below. You can also dine there as well.

I recently visited the Ronald Reagan Presidential Museum and Library in Simi Valley and I actually walked thru Air Force One! What a thrill it was to see the very airplane our past presidents flew in with their families, the press and the secret service. It’s a great way to spend the day and visit part of our history.
