Technology with Farming

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty
Almost every email we receive is about buying something to do with websites and technology. I believe that we need websites and technology to help us with over 80% of buyers looking on-line. But I also believe that we are missing out on building relationships by expecting drip emails to do all the work for us. We need to go back to the basics, shake hands and kiss babies, etc., along with our websites and drip email campaigns. Then we will build relationships that will last and the 28% who bought from a Realtor will buy from the same Realtor the next time and our referrals will last and will build your business to the next level, even in what they call "Down Market."

Tim, you are so right!  E-technology works and must be used today, but too many agents leave their referrrals behind.  Phone calls or a hand written note are much more personal for building realtionships.  My main source of comunication is Email, of course, but I still send handwritten notes and really appreciate it when someone takes the time to send one to me.  It makes me feel special!

I think it's important to meet your farm face-to-face.  Today I went door knocking for the first time in 2 subdivisions.  Next week, I'll start farming those subdivisions with post cards.

That doesn't mean, however, that I don't use email to keep in touch with my SOI and past clients....  I do.

Farming has always been good to do along with so many other things.   I'm not sure I like the idea of knocking on doors however.

Tim I have been saying this for a year now, face to face is where it is at.  General print is on its way out.  People buy from people they feel comfortable or their friends worked with or know. Referrals and face to face along with good customer services is where we are at in this market.  I too just join activerain and navigating myself around this site.  It has a lot to offer.

Technology is a great tool and does assist us with marketing in many ways. However, it cannot replace inter-personal communication. Good post.
