Yesterday, I crafted a blog post on my website AtlantaHomeStaging.net that addresses how to tackle a long narrow room. I thought it would be valuable to the Active Rain community as well given that there are many homes on the market that face this dilemma.
First, here are two pictures that address the left and right side of the room. Note: The homeowner was in the middle of getting his home ready for the market. Hence, the drapes you see in the picture.
As you can see above, the homeowner was smart in dividing the space. The left side has the nautical theme, which I loved.
With the homeowner anxious to move, he elected to move everything out and have me bring in furniture and accessories for his home. Here's a picture taken by Iran Watson, one of Atlanta's best real estate photographers that captures the room as it appears after the home staging. Iran did a wonderful job capturing both sides of this room:
Here's what we did to address this long narrow room:
- Just as the homeowner had done, we divided the space into two distinct areas; one is a living area and the other as an office.
- We carried over like-items to create a consistent look and feel. For example, a dark desk and matching credenza that matches the same color wood in the coffee table.
- We further defined each space by using rugs which also helped to ground the items within the room.
