Cheshire Forest in Chesapeake, Virginia is a popular home buying option for people relocating to Hampton Roads. Cheshire Forest is a large neighborhood (+500 homes) in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake and features winding roads shaded by mature trees. Cheshire Forest is primarily comprised of higher end homes but there are some that more modestly priced. Homes alternate between two and one story and many of the homes have inground swimming pools. There are a couple of man-made lakes within the Cheshire Forest community which provide some great opportunities for kayaking and also are a lovely place for local water fowl to call home.
Most of the homes in Cheshire Forest have four bedrooms, although there are many with 3 and 5 bedrooms. Exteriors range from brick, to vinyl to stucco and many have front porches which provide an excellent place to enjoy a cool evening and chat with neighbors. Cheshire Forest does have a homeowners' association and the architectural committee ensures that the high standards for home exteriors are maintained.
The Cheshire Forest Club House and outdoor pool provides a central hub for social activities within the Cheshire Forest community. Activities such as parents' night out and the annual Fourth of July party are examples of the numerous Cheshire Forest social events. The Cheshire Forest Swim team, the Flying Fish, competes with a vari ety of local swim teams and provides an excellent opportunity for the community to get together and cheer on their local swimmers.
Cheshire Forest homes have maintained their value over the years. However, they did experience a downturn in value in the years from 2007 to 2011. During 2012, it appears that values have stabilized and stopped their downward momentum which is great news for people who are considering selling in the neat future.
Cheshire Forest Schools
Cheshire Forest is zoned for Great Bridge Elementary, Great Bridge Middle School and Great Bridge High School. The ratings of these schools have contributed to the popularity of Cheshire Forest with home buyers.
