For many residents in Downtown San Diego, the noise generated by the railroad running through the city is quite bothersome. Fortunately, there is a plan in place to alleviate the noise.
The article “Railway ‘Quiet Zone’ still stifled but moving forward” by the San Diego Downtown News explains what is going on and why it is taking so long to complete the Quiet Zone Project. Originally planned for completion in January 2012, the plan for noise reduction from Little Italy to the East Village is now schedule for completion in September 2012. The plan was originally created to manage the amount of noise pollution within the city. The planned “Quiet Zone” is going to allow residents to be able to sleep soundly without any disturbance from train horns.
With the development of Downtown San Diego ongoing, it is good to know that the current and future residents are being thought of. Once the project is complete, residents will mostly celebrate with a good night’s rest.
