It's the middle of the night here in Chicago. After 2:00 AM! Not too cold - surprisingly! My wife, Sue, and I had a couple of celebratory drinks - and we just came home - but what a day for her! I am so proud!
First, think - what kind of awards have you received in your real estate business? Sales awards? Production award? MVP of your office or region? Rookie of the Year?
Sue just received a very special award from The Floyd Wickman Team. Floyd has been my personal mentor and trainer for over 12 years. His trainers and staff are the best in the industry. Our Team learns from them, coaches with them, is inspired by them - and all of the wonderful students we interact with as a result of our involvement with his organization.
Each year, Floyd hosts his Master Sales Event for all his students and friends. For the last five years, he has hosted it right here. In Chicago. In January! If you can make the commitment to come to Chicago in the dead of winter, goals in hand, ready to learn, prepared to share, and ready to interact with some of the most giving and sharing Real Estate Professionals in North America, there is absolutely no way you will fail to achieve your business and personal goals this year!
The award Sue received tonight is Floyd's annual "You Get By Giving Award." Formerly the Carolyn Howd Award, then the Toby Davis Award, after a pair of unconditional givers who were taught and mentored by Floyd. Only ten people in the history of real estate have received this award. To my surprise, I was presented with the award myself five years ago, back in 2003. Two from the same family to receive it - that is truly incredible, and we are truly honored.
For most sales awards - you know they are coming. You add up production or earnings figures, or number of units sold and closed. You receive a certain number of customer satisfaction surveys back. You set up a certain number of listing or buyer's exclusive appointments in the office. And so on.
But Floyd's "You Get By Giving Award" is different! It is for the one person in his group who has most shared, unselfishly, with his or her peers, within the past year. Volunteered to help them - attend a class, book a client lunch or dinner, or help handle a tough client for me or our Team members. She has even shared our home with many a Wicki agent who has needed a place to stay for the night while in Chicago visiting from out of town.
Her annual "Casa Moss Floyd Wickman Master's Breakfast", held in conjunction with Floyd's Master Sales Academy, is the talk of the show - and we all have such a good time. She puts it all together!
Who get's the award each year is the most closely-guarded secret. Nominated by other Floyd students, it is based solely on characteristics of sharing and giving. Receiving that award five years ago changed my life, changed my direction in life and business, and confirmed my success in real estate.
Now, it has an opportunity to change her life as well.
To those of you who do not know Floyd, or follow his philosophy, you might not understand my high level of pride in my wife right now. But if you get to know the 350 or so Top Realtors and Brokers who trudge to Chicago each year in mid-winter, who freely share with their fellow students they encounter here, and who actually have made "You Get By Giving" a CORE VALUE in their business - you would know what I mean.
Postings over the next few days will discuss specific techniques and "ahas" learned in the last couple of days at the Chicago Floyd Wickman Master Sales Academy. I will share as much as I can with you, and hope these shares help you in your business and personal lives.
But, tonight, it is time to congratulate Sue, for winning this special honor!
Sweet Dreams, Honey! I love you!
